NY Real Estate Exam

Effective with the July 1, 2008 to schedule, the real estate salesperson and broker walk-in examination system will be replaced with an advance web-based examination scheduling system.  This change is only for the exam centers listed: Albany,Franklin Square,Haupauge,New York City, and Newburg exam centers and only for the real estate salesperson and broker examinations.  A reservation will be required for admission to any of these exam centers.  Examinees will no longer be allowed to walk-in, nor will they be allowed to wait to see if there are empty seats.  In short, if they do not have a reservation, they will not be taking an exam that day.  Expedited licensing will still be available at the Albany, New York City and Rochester exam centers.

Each week, exam centers will be provided a complete listing of examinees that have scheduled an examination for their center.  The list will include each examiners name and confirmation number.  Examinees, when making their reservation, will be cautioned to make their reservation in EXACTLY the name that appears on their photo ID.

The online reservation process will be quick and easy, and should take only a few minutes for examinees to complete. Once they have made an exam reservation, examinees will have a specified time to appear for examination.  This should make for a more orderly and efficient examination process and permit applicants to better schedule their daily activities.

The instructions for using the scheduling system currently are being finished .  Once completed, general information and instructions will be posted on the Department of State?s website at (under the Licensing Division).
